What are the reasons for a private investigator to turn down a case?
After 43+ years as a PI and leading one of the top-echelon agencies in the U.S., this might be one of the most complex decisions for a PI. For us, it is easy. We have unlimited casework; if there is any “hint” of a problem or unrealistic clients, we will quickly and decisively turn the case down.
We turn down cases when:
1.) A person has mental health issues.
2.) A person has unreasonable expectations.
3.) A person is too irrational, emotional, or won’t accept the possibility of a negative outcome.
4.) There are ethical concerns.
5.) There are legal concerns.
6.) When there are financial limitations.
7.) When the potential for physical danger arises.
8.) The assignment is not in our wheelhouse of expertise.
No case is worth any of these headaches. When you hear about a PI in trouble, they probably violated one of these issues or concerns.
