How can I find an experienced, professional, and affordable private investigator for surveillance work in Toronto or the surrounding area?
If you live in Toronto, the process will be a lot easier than if you are in the U.S. or another country. Either way, some of the tips below will apply to either scenario.
For the past 43 years, we have had the opportunity to work in numerous foreign countries. We always engage a local private investigator when working in a foreign country. The following tips apply not only to Toronto, Canada but to most countries around the globe.
Evaluating Criteria:
1.) Website: Does the site provide detailed information about the owner, their experience, and whether they specialize in “surveillance” work? If there is no tab for “surveillance” or no reference under “services,” then move on to another website.
2.) Are they the leader in their area with Google reviews?
3.) Are they licensed and in good standing with the agency that licenses private investigators?
4.) Do they have client testimonials?
5.) Are they transparent in their memorializing their fees?
6.) Have you called a local PI in your area for a possible referral?
7.) Use WhatsApp to make calls to the foreign country to save money.
8.) Call the U.S. Embassy in the capital for a possible referral.
9.) Call the local police department to determine if they have any retired officers they can recommend as private investigators.
10.) A fair range for surveillance rates is $100.00 to $150.00 per hour. Most work in four to eight-hour minimums. Be prepared to pay for mileage and reasonable expenses. Good hunting.
