What is the typical timeline for an employer to respond after conducting a basic criminal and employment history search or background check?

Our best advice is not to be anxious. A reasonable timeline we have observed is after two weeks. Don’t call. Email the hiring manager and state, “I’m checking on the status of my application. I am very interested in this role. Are there any updates you can share?” Keep it short and sweet.
