Private Investigator for Elder Caregiver Background Check
Elder abuse at home and in shelters is on the rise. Before you hire a caregiver, a private investigator can help you look into their past and check for records of prior elder abuse, financial misconduct, and neglect. The PIs not only check criminal records at the courts but also interview witnesses such as landlords, past employers, and medical professionals tied to your candidate’s work history. The common challenge with such cases is that elder abuse cases are sealed. It would take an expert team of ex-intelligence operators to help you find the truth through behavioral psychology analysis, record subpoenas, and legal data scraping.

Can background checks reveal information about an individual's mental health or medical history?
The Privacy Act does not generally cover both mental health information and medical history because the Privacy Act covers both. Even if we were lucky enough to find some documentation, we could not legally reveal that.
What are the differences between a criminal history check and a financial history check?
So, criminal histories are collected in all 50 states. We buy from the cities, the counties, and the states, and that will provide on the subject their history relative to felonies, which is a year or more in jail, and misdemeanors, which is less than a year in jail. Financial histories are a totally different search, and there are three things we do there. There are asset searches; there’s bank searches and stock searches. However, the most important caveat here is that they all have to be done under the Graham Leach Bliley Act, also known as the GLD Act, which was enacted in 1999.

How do private investigators verify employment history?
There used to be a great index that the United States government kept that we could buy, called the employment index. That was great up until COVID-19 hit in March 2020, and they had a lot of people obviously dying without social security numbers. A lot of people are changing their employment, and a lot of people are getting 1099s and W2s all over the board. And so that index has pretty much gone down in accuracy to where it used to be about 95% we’re seeing now it’s more 40 to 50%. So the best way now that we verify employment is to actually do surveillance on the subject and follow him away on a Monday or Tuesday morning, and hopefully, he’s not working from home, and he goes to a business. And that’s generally how we discover employment history.

Private investigator sheds light on security measures in new book
Private investigator Tom Martin is based in Southern California, but his work frequently brings him up to date in Las Vegas.
“We get hired by people who get hurt coming in on I-15, or people who get hurt in the hotels,” said Martin, 50. Sometimes, he mentions, he is hired by the party who gets sued by a deceptive person just claiming to be hurt.
USA Today: With my cell-phone number, a private eye found 150 pages on me
I gave my cell number to private investigator Thomas Martin, a former federal agent and now president of Martin Investigative Services in Newport Beach, Calif., and asked him to do his thing. A few days later a three-pound, 150-plus-page dossier arrived at my front door via FedEx. Martin didn't trust regular mail given the nature of what it contained, which was tons of my private information.
“We didn't even scratch the surface,” Martin told me later. He also made a point of telling me that I was “cleaner than a Safeway chicken.”
