What is the average cost for a private investigator to use GPS tracking devices on vehicles?

Vehicle tracking is not a service we provide, as GPS tracking is illegal in the following scenarios:

1.) We can not track a vehicle without the owner’s consent nor when a spouse wants their mate to be tracked.

2.) Without a court order, we can not legally place a tracking device on a vehicle.

3.) Following someone using a tracker without their knowledge is a criminal offense.

You should check the laws in your state before engaging with a PI in this endeavor. For example, installing a GPS tracker without the owner’s consent in California is a misdemeanor. Please see California Penal Code 637.7

Penal Code 646.9 also states that this behavior violates California stalking and harassment laws.

When a legitimate reason arises, here are some cost factors:

1.) Top-notch devices can be purchased between $200.00 and $300.00.

2.) Some companies will rent the equipment.

3.) Installation is often determined by what level of concealment you want.

4.) Monitoring is usually less than $100.00/month.
